TRINIDAD, Colo. - September 22, 2026 -

Are artists who use emerging technology still “real” artists? And who gets to decide?

It is a question the creative world is increasingly being forced to confront as artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies blur the boundaries between artist and tool, handmade and machine-assisted, traditional craft and entirely new forms of expression. Neuroscope Films intends to put that conversation on the screen—and in front of an audience.

Based in Trinidad, Colorado, Neuroscope Films is a creative production and exhibition company exploring the intersection of storytelling, art and technology through curated screenings and original productions. The name Neuroscope evokes an instrument for looking into the nervous system—a lens into human perception and imagination, and the evolving technologies transforming how we experience stories.

With a particular interest in artificial intelligence and emerging creative technologies, Neuroscope will showcase work from filmmakers and artists around the world while creating opportunities for audiences in Southern Colorado to encounter new voices, new forms of storytelling and the sometimes uncomfortable conversations shaping the future of film.

Neuroscope plans to present monthly screenings and special programs spanning traditional narrative, experimental work and AI-assisted filmmaking. Rather than drawing a line between “traditional” and “technological” artists, Neuroscope is interested in what happens when they share the same screen—and the same conversation.

FOUNDER

Neuroscope Films was founded by Brock Cravy, executive producer and festival director, whose career in film, television, political media and nonprofit communications spans more than three decades.

Cravy got his start working on Emmy-winning productions including American Idol, The Amazing Race, Friday Night Lights and Prison Break. He later produced media for international nonprofit organizations, as well as U.S. Senate and presidential campaigns.

As an independent filmmaker and screenwriter, Cravy’s work has been selected by more than 45 film festivals across six continents and has streamed on Amazon. His screenwriting has received recognition from festivals including Moscow International, Cinequest and the Nashville International Film Festival.

After relocating to Trinidad, Cravy saw an opportunity to connect his experience in media with the creative, educational and technological energy already developing across Southern Colorado and northern New Mexico.

“There is real momentum building in Colorado and with our neighbors to the south. Sundance is moving to Boulder, and just across the state line, the American West Film Fest is taking shape in Raton. Something is happening in our fair Hamlet,” Cravy said.

“I’m sure many people have arrived in Trinidad over the years and said they felt something emerging here. I’m going to be one of them. There is an energy in Trinidad right now—a collision of creativity, entrepreneurship and technology that feels genuinely exciting.

“That’s why we chose to be powered by Emergent Campus. They are champions of entrepreneurs, remote workers and technology in rural communities, and that spirit is very much at the heart of what we want Neuroscope to become.”

POWERED BY EMERGENT CAMPUS

Neuroscope Films is powered by Emergent Campus, Trinidad’s growing hub for entrepreneurship, technology, remote work and rural innovation. Through the relationship, Neuroscope is connecting filmmaking and the arts with a broader community of entrepreneurs, technologists, educators and students - part of an effort to make Trinidad a place where creative and technological experimentation can happen far beyond the traditional centers of the entertainment industry.

“When we say an organization is powered by Emergent Campus, we mean it has a home in a rural innovation ecosystem - workspace, partners, students and a region determined to grow from within,” said Joze Petrich, Executive Director, Emergent Campus. “The charter of Neuroscope Films is a great fit for our programs and support. We are proud to stand behind work that treats Trinidad and Southern Colorado as a place to invent and invest, building for the future.”

“Neuroscope is exactly the kind of rural-connected venture Emergent Campus exists to support,” Petrich said. “Filmmaking, emerging media and technology belong in the same conversation as entrepreneurship and workforce development. When creators can build here, students can learn here, and audiences can gather here, Trinidad becomes more than a beautiful place to live—it becomes a place where the next wave of work and creativity actually happens.”

First screening: Color and Curves: The Story of Human Creativity

Neuroscope’s inaugural screening, Color and Curves: The Story of Human Creativity, will take place Friday, November 6, 2026, at the Massari Theatre at Trinidad State College. The program will introduce Southern Colorado audiences to the kind of work Neuroscope intends to champion: films that explore human creativity while asking new questions about art, technology and the ways stories are made.

WHY TRINIDAD?

“People always ask me, ‘Why Trinidad?’ Ten years ago, what we’re doing here simply wasn’t possible. Today, with the technology available to us, we can produce a feature film without ever stepping foot outside the office—or the coffee shop. As creators, we are living in the age of access.”

“We can produce quality work, sellable work, from Mutiny coffee shop, a cornfield in Iowa, or the surface of Mars without ever asking some executive in Los Angeles for permission. The barriers between having an idea and putting that idea in front of an audience are disappearing. That’s incredibly liberating for independents, and especially for creators living outside the traditional entertainment centers.
